Accessibility

Trootone is built so that anyone, on any device, with any assistive technology, can capture a meeting and walk away with a usable brief.

Our commitment

We design and build Trootone with accessibility as a first-class concern, not a retrofit. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, and we test against assistive technologies including VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS.

What we do

  • Every interactive control is reachable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring.
  • A "Skip to main content" link appears for screen reader and keyboard users on every page.
  • Buttons, links, form fields, and toggles have descriptive labels for assistive technology.
  • Status messages, including upload progress, errors, and order changes, are announced to screen readers.
  • Tap targets meet a 44 by 44 pixel minimum so they are usable on touch devices and by people with motor differences.
  • All meaningful images have alternative text. Decorative icons are hidden from screen readers.
  • Colour contrast meets WCAG AA in both light and dark modes.
  • We respect the operating system "reduce motion" setting and disable non-essential animation when it is on.
  • A theme toggle in the navigation lets you choose light or dark mode and remembers your choice.

Dark and light mode

Trootone respects your system display preference and offers a manual toggle in the navigation bar so you can switch between dark and light mode at any time. Both themes are designed to meet WCAG AA contrast requirements.

Known limitations

We are an early-stage product and we are honest about the gaps:

  • The brief output is rendered as text in the browser. Reading order is correct but advanced screen reader navigation by region is still being refined.
  • Generated export files (PDF, DOCX) inherit our visual layout. Tagged PDF support is on our roadmap.
  • The processing animation conveys progress visually. The same status is announced via a live region so screen reader users receive the same information.

Standards

Trootone targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We track compliance internally and treat regressions as bugs.

Feedback

If you hit any barrier using Trootone, please tell us. This includes a control your screen reader cannot reach, a colour you cannot read, or a form you cannot complete. We will respond within 24 hours and we will fix it.
